    A. 

Yes, please contact East Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission at 256-237-6741 for the bus routes.  Also, the Senior Citizens office will transport citizens to the doctor if needed.  The Senior Citizens Center is located at:

    Q.  How do I register to vote in the City of Oxford?
    A. 

To register to vote, you need to obtain a registration form and you may obtain those at the City Clerk’s office or the Voter Registration Office in Calhoun or Talladega County.

    Q.  Where can I renew my driver’s license, get my vehicle tags, or obtain a marriage license?
    A. 

For Oxford residents in Calhoun County - to renew your driver’s license and car tags, you will need to go to the Tags and License Department (256)241-2900 at the Calhoun County Administration Building.  To obtain a marriage license (256)241-2825, you will need to go to the Probate Judge’s office at the Calhoun County Administration Building.

For Oxford residents in Talladega County - to renew your car tags, you will need to go to the Revenue Commissioners Office (256)761-2123 at the Talladega Courthouse.  To obtain a marriage license (256)362-4175, you will need to go to the Probate Judge's office at the Talladega Courthouse.

    Q.  Who is my Council Representative?

The City of Oxford is not broken down into districts; therefore, all five Council Members are your representatives.



    Q.  Who do I contact about getting a business license or a building permit?

To get information on and to purchase a business license, you will need to contact the Business Office at 256-831-3183.  To obtain a building permit, you will need to contact the Inspection Department at 256-831-9685.

    Q.  How do I get in touch with the cemetery and purchase lots?

You may reach the cemetery office at 256-831-3133.  After you have visited the cemetery to pick out your lots, you will need to come by the City Clerk’s office to receive your deed.

    Q.  Who do I need to contact to rezone property or to ask a question about zoning?
    A. 

You may contact the Building Inspection Department at 256-835-6146.



    Q.  Does the city provide garbage service and what is the cost?
    A. 

Yes, the city does provide at no cost residential garbage service through Allied Waste.  To set up garbage service, please contact the City Clerk’s Office with your name, phone number, and address.



    Q.  Who do I contact for court dates and to pay fines?
    A. 

You will need to contact the Municipal Court Clerk at 256-835-6118.



    Q.  When and where is court held?
    A. 

Municipal Court is held every Tuesday at 3 PM.

    Q.  How do I know what school district my kids are in?
    A. 

All residents located within the city limits will attend the Oxford City School System.  You may contact the City Clerk’s Office to verify if you are in the City limits.  To find out which school your child will attend, please contact the Oxford City Board of Education at 256-241-3140.

 



    Q.  How do I find out if I live in the city limits?
    A. 

You can contact the City Clerk’s Office with your address and we can determine whether or not you are located within the city limits.



    Q.  What is the sales tax rate?
    A. 

The sales tax rate for the City of Oxford is 10%.

    Q.  How do I obtain a copy of the city ordinances and resolutions?
    A. 

You may obtain a copy of the city’s ordinances and resolutions at the City Clerk’s Office from:  Monday-Friday  8:00 am to 4:30 pm.  You may also obtain a copy of the City Ordinances by clicking on Municipal Code on the Home page of the City's website.



    Q.  Who do I contact about the pavilions out at Oxford Lake
    A. 

You will need to contact the Civic Center (256)831-2660 for availability and cost of the pavilions.



    Q.  Does the city have an ordinance about barking dogs?
    A. 

Yes, the city does have an ordinance on animals and may be obtained by coming by the City Clerk’s Office from:

All Municipal Board applications are available on the home page of the City's website or at the City Clerk’s Office from:  Monday-Friday  8:00 am to 4:30pm.
