2010 Homecoming Celebration for Oxford, Alabama
Date: May 31 – June 5, 2010
Originally known as “Lick Skillet”, Oxford’s 150th Anniversary Celebration begins with a Memorial Day ceremony at Veteran’s Park located between Snow and Choccolocco Streets. Various activities throughout the week include tours of historic homes, churches, the train depot and our 100 year old school campus. There will be a concert performed by the Glenn Miller Orchestra at the Oxford Civic Center. The new Public Library will have special displays of town history in its Oxford Room, and a unique exhibit of Indian artifacts in its Native American Room. The climax of the week will be the first Lick Skillet Festival and a ceremony to dedicate our city’s historic marker in Simmons Park on Main Street.
